About Us

Our Story

We are a team of creatives who love God's Word and want to make it understandable to all.

The ABH story begins with two widows (Howard and Fran), two authentic stories to tell, and a desire to encourage others who hurt. In 2010, the widows married and blended families. Two years later, Fran crushed her ankle, requiring Howard’s care. He dropped out of his PhD program to care for her. Wrestling with how to serve in ministry while caring for Fran led to starting a publishing company that tells authentic stories. Over time our focus morphed to providing simplified biblical training with the perspective that one cannot teach Scripture without also encouraging the suffering..

Our Staff

Fran Geiger Joslin, President

Fran offered Howard sixteen hours of her time in 2014 to get the ministry off the ground. Before she knew it she was in charge! Fran appreciates God granting her a passion of her own for simplified biblical training. She also enjoys encouraging women, decorating, and home improvement projects.

Howard Joslin, Board President

Howard loves studying God’s Word and making it understandable to all. His gifting provides great material for ABH books. When Howard isn’t working his day job (computer consulting), he teaches Sunday School and Bible institute classes affiliated with his church. He also enjoys encouraging younger believers.

Erin Ensinger, Editor in Chief

Erin, a former writing professor, came to ABH as a volunteer editor who wanted to use her writing for the Lord. She brings amazing writing and editing skills to ABH. Erin also homeschools her two children and runs a homeschool library because she loves books.

Jessica Helm, Admin. Assistant

Jessica comes to us with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources. She has also worked in Christian Education. We’re sure she’ll quickly pick up writing skills as well. In her spare time she loves to hike, kayak, and hang out with her husband and three children.
